When an Islander is placed off-Island, something is lost that does not appear on any invoice. Family visits become a day’s travel and an overnight stay. Community connections thin out. The people who will be there at the end of the placement are not the people delivering it.
We believe that where care can safely be delivered in Jersey, it should be.

Rosemary Cottage is registered with the Jersey Care Commission as a care home service for adults with mental health and substance misuse needs, providing personal care and personal support to seven residents, with staff on site 24 hours a day. Our team holds qualifications in psychology, forensic psychology, and leadership in adult care, and we are a SMART Recovery UK partner organisation.
We have supported the return of Islanders from off-Island placements, and we are able to assess candidates for repatriation on request — including travelling to assess in person.

Bringing someone home is not only better for them. It keeps the cost of their care within Jersey, at published Long-Term Care rates, and it removes the escorts, the travel and the staff time that off-Island placement quietly adds to every review.
