Both are regulated by the Jersey Care Commission, in the Commission’s own categories. They carry different age ranges and run to different criteria, by design.

From the cottage,
into their own home.
Residential care leading into home care is the clinical logic of the whole service, and the thing that most distinguishes Rosemary Cottage from a standalone care home.
Where a resident’s health and stability allow, we support the move back to independent living with the same team, on a reducing schedule, through RC Home Care. Continuity of relationship is the point: the people who supported someone through residential care are the people who keep supporting them afterwards. Care plans are reviewed monthly, and at any point a person’s needs change.
How placements
are arranged.
Residential placements at Rosemary Cottage are funded through Jersey’s Long-Term Care benefit, at published rates.
Home care packages are arranged directly with Health and Community Services or privately, and are costed per hour according to the support required. Capacity is agreed with the Jersey Care Commission according to the packages commissioned, and registration can be varied to accommodate larger packages.
Who delivers it.
Every member of our support staff holds a Regulated Qualifications Framework qualification. At our most recent inspection the Care Commission recorded 100% compliance with mandatory training and identified training as an area of good practice at the home, alongside specialist training in mental health, substance and alcohol misuse, behaviour management, stress and conflict management, seizures, dementia and learning disabilities.
Every member of staff receives quarterly supervision and an annual appraisal. The average length of employment across our team is five and a quarter years.
We also host student placements from a local college, giving people entering the profession real experience of supporting recovery, mental health and relapse prevention.
Two inspections,
no areas for improvement.
Every registered care service in Jersey is inspected at least annually by the Jersey Care Commission, and every report is published in full. We would rather you read them than take our word for it.
